# Did AOC Just Quietly Admit She's Not Running for President?

## Or maybe she's dumber than we all thought

There's been a lot of talk about the now-infamous video of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez discussing her decision to freeze her eggs at 36\. Everyone's landed on the same read: this is a 2028 tell. She's clearing the decks to run.

Maybe. But walk the timeline out, and a different, less flattering story shows up.

The theory goes that AOC is freezing her eggs now so she's "free" of the biological clock while she campaigns and, if she wins, serves. Fair enough, campaigning while pregnant or with a toddler is a genuinely hard ask. But so is doing IVF and early parenthood while sitting in the Oval Office.

If the goal really is the presidency, then what's the plan? Is she going to go through IVF in her early 40s while in office? Or wait until after two potential terms, which puts her at 46 starting to implant eggs she froze at 36?

Neither version lines up cleanly with "I'm running for President." A campaign timeline built around egg-freezing at 36 reads a lot more like someone quietly taking herself out of the running than someone gearing up for it.

Or, there is a simpler explanation: this isn't a strategic tell at all. It's the same thing we've seen from her before ([but we knew that already](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/01/07/alexandria-ocasio-cortezs-very-bad-defense-her-falsehoods/?ref=thecrimsonhub.com)) — she just can't do math very well. 

Freezing at 36 instead of in her 20s already works against her on fertility odds, well past the [egg quantity and quality](https://crh.ucsf.edu/blog/egg-freezing-in-your-20s-vs-30s-what-to-know-about-timing-success-rates-and-cost?ref=thecrimsonhub.com) window that makes freezing worth it in the first place. Add a possible run, two terms, and a wait until her mid-40s to implant, and the numbers get worse, not better. If this was meant to signal "I'm prepared to run and have a family," the math doesn't cooperate. It reads more like AOC didn't think the sequence through at all, in the same way she's had "fuzzy math" on what her policy agenda would cost the country.

Either AOC just tipped her hand that she's not running in 2028, or she went public with a decision that undercuts its own supposed purpose because she didn't do the arithmetic. Both are plausible, but neither is a great look. And given the pattern, don't expect a straight answer if she's asked directly.
